Hello! I’m Claire Mabey and the photo of me just there was taken by musician and photographer Ebony Lamb (I wrote about how brilliant Ebony is, here). This photo gives you a wee insight into who I am: a little shy, quite busy with various bits and pieces, and I enjoy being surrounded by art. In fact, I need to be. I believe in the powers of the human imagination to do extraordinary things. Inventive, dangerous, beautiful things.

That’s why I love writing and reading. You can make anything with words. I am not so good at drawing but I do have an aspirational easel (you can see it leaning up against the wall over there on the right).

My first novel for children, The Raven’s Eye Runaways, is being published in July 2024. I’ll soon update with the cover reveal, deleted scenes, and some writing on the many and (quite strange) things that inspired the story.
